Shimyoin, Mountain Source of the Kamo
A cave at this mountain temple is held to be a source of the Kamo River, one of Kyoto's principal waterways. Another cave is where, by legend, Narukami, a priest from a kabuki play, imprisoned a dragon—the river's source and a captive water deity sharing the same mountainside.
