Hideyoshi's Makishima Embankment
One of the embankments Hideyoshi raised as he built Fushimi Castle, severing the Uji River from the Ogura pond it had long fed and channeling it down to the castle town. This is the trace of the Makishima embankment running from Uji to Mukaijima, where, by tradition, a row of cherry trees once lined the top of the bank.
