Shigetsu, Hideyoshi's Lost Castle
The site of Hideyoshi's first Fushimi Castle—Shigetsu Castle—completed in 1594 (Bunroku 3). Long called the "phantom castle," since it collapsed in the Keichō Fushimi earthquake and was rebuilt on Mount Kohata, it was confirmed by a 2015 excavation that uncovered moat traces and stone walls along with gold-leaf roof tiles.
