Kyoto Daijingu, Inner-City Ise Shrine
Founded in the late nineteenth century, this shrine allowed people unable to travel to worship the distant sacred center of Ise from Kyoto. Its hall, said to incorporate rooms moved from an aristocratic residence, still faces the bustle of Teramachi, a busy shopping street.
