Matsubara, Kyoto's Old Gojo Bridge

By tradition, the earlier bridge at this spot was where the young warrior hero Ushiwakamaru (Yoshitsune) met Benkei, a warrior-monk. Accounts of the legend differ, but the street's long history as a busy approach to Kiyomizu-dera is certain.
