Ichihime-jinja

By tradition Ichihime-jinja was founded in 795 as guardian of Kyoto's eastern and western markets. All five of its enshrined deities are goddesses, and for that reason the shrine has long been revered as a protector of women. It is said to have moved to its present site in the Shimogyō district in 1591.
