Nintendo's Birthplace and Old HQ

Nintendo was founded here on Shomen-dori in Kagiya-cho in 1889, making and selling hanafuda playing cards. Its 1930 former headquarters, which doubled as the founding Yamauchi family's home, reopened in 2022 as the hotel Marufukuro, and the plate reading 'Yamauchi Nintendo, maker of playing cards and karuta' still hangs there.
