Yugao-no-tsuka (grave linked to The Tale of Genji)
夕顔之墳(源氏物語ゆかり)
☾
A small mound said to be the grave of Yugao, the tragic lady of the 'Yugao' chapter of The Tale of Genji. Edo-period lovers of the tale are said to have raised it to mourn her, and the stone beside it was set by a Kyoto historical society in 1929. The grave of a fictional character endures in reality, kept alive even in the neighborhood name 'Yugao-cho.' (legend)
