Kyoto's Meiji-Era Government Hall
A Renaissance-style brick building completed in 1904—the oldest government office still in use in Japan in its original form. An Important Cultural Property, it preserves the period governor's office and old assembly hall, and in its courtyard blooms a 'grandchild' of Maruyama Park's first Gion weeping cherry.
