Nurikobe Jizo (toothache cure)

ぬりこべ地蔵(歯痛封じ)

South (Rakunan)|伏見稲荷

A stone Jizo about a meter tall, standing in a corner of a cemetery south of Fushimi Inari Taisha. Its name-'Nurikobe,' suggesting the sealing-in of illness-made it nationally famous for relieving toothache; the cured tie chopsticks to its lattice, and a tooth-memorial service is held every June 4.
