Etched Sorrow·Rakuchū / Gosho-minami
Takenouchi Shikibu Residence Site
Said by tradition to mark the home of Takenouchi Shikibu, a Shinto teacher who preached reverence for the emperor to young court nobles and was driven from Kyoto over the Horeki Incident (1758). A Taisho-era stone marker at the corner of Fuyacho-dori and Marutamachi once read 'Kono minami Takenouchi Shikibu gukyo-shi' — 'Takenouchi Shikibu's dwelling lies to the south' — but it is now removed, leaving only a trace on the street.
