Shigehira's Legendary Ordination Site

Taira no Shigehira, taken captive at Ichinotani, is said to have received the precepts from Honen here before being sent to Kamakura (the Tale of the Heike, among other sources). Only a small stone marker remains where the general who burned Nara's temples is said to have sought salvation.
