The Shinsengumi's Last Kyoto Base

Site of the Shinsengumi's final Kyoto headquarters. They moved here from Nishi Hongan-ji in 1867 into quarters as grand as a daimyo's estate, but within half a year withdrew to Fushimi, closing their days in the old capital. The exact location is disputed; stone markers remain.
