Site of Shiga Naoya's Former Residence
志賀直哉旧居跡 山科之記憶(しがなおやきゅうきょあと)
The site of the house where the novelist Shiga Naoya lived for about a year and a half between 1923 and 1925, said to be the setting of works such as “Yamashina no Kioku.” The building is gone; only a stone marker stands by the river. His masterwork “A Dark Night's Passing” was, in fact, completed in Nara — not written here in Yamashina.
