Memorial Stone to Nawa Nagatoshi
名和長年公景慕碑
◈
A stone raised in longing for Nawa Nagatoshi, a loyal retainer of Emperor Go-Daigo. In 1336 he fell in battle against the Ashikaga forces in the streets of the capital; a later age carved this marker in his memory. It speaks of the brief Kenmu Restoration and its fragile end.
