Doso-jinja
道祖神社
❀
A small shrine said to have been founded in 899 as guardian of the Teiji-in, the retirement palace of Retired Emperor Uda. It enshrines the wayfarers' deities Sarutahiko and Ame-no-Uzume as a married pair—gods of boundaries, safe travel and good matches—tucked today into a sliver of space between buildings near Kyoto Station.
