A stone monument (erected 1969) at Saga Chu-in, said to be the birthplace of the courtesan Yugiri Tayu, one of the 'three great beauties of the Kan'ei era.' A tayu of the Ogiya house in Shimabara before moving to Osaka's Shinmachi, she was portrayed as the heroine of Chikamatsu Monzaemon's puppet play Yugiri Awa no Naruto, later reworked into the kabuki Kuruwa Bunsho.
