Nakaragi-jinja
半木神社
❀
An outer subordinate shrine of Kamigamo, set in the natural Nakaragi woodland of the botanical garden. Tradition holds that when a shrine in Nishigamo's Ukita Forest was swept away by a Kamo River flood, its hall was rebuilt from the driftwood that washed ashore-'nagaregi' (driftwood) said to become 'Nakaragi'—one of several explanations of the name. The river's cherry-lined Nakaragi-no-michi also takes its name from here.
