Cherished Legend·Rakutō / Higashiyama

Yasaka Koshin-do (kukuri-zaru)

A little hall where bundles of colorful kukuri-zaru — "bound monkeys" — sway in the breeze. Each cloth monkey, its limbs tied, is said to stand for one desire given up; restrain a single wish, the telling goes, and another is granted. A small hall of the folk practice of Koshin. (Tradition)
