Obama Domain's Kyoto Residence
The site of the roughly 20,000-tsubo Kyoto residence of the Sakai, a hereditary daimyo house, spreading southwest of Nijo Castle. In the late Edo period the shogunal guardian Hitotsubashi Yoshinobu is said to have stayed here before entering the castle, charting his course toward the restoration of imperial rule.
